Student caretaker/Resident Assistant

What is a Student caretaker/Resident Assistant?
A Student caretaker/Resident Assistant (RA) rents a room from DUWO and knows his building and the area well. The Student caretaker/RA supports the manager and is the first point of contact in the building for DUWO and international students.

Key pick-up
At the start of the new semester, Student caretakers/RA's hand out keys to new international students. The Student caretaker/RA will contact the student as soon as the arrival date is known to DUWO. The new student does not have to go to the DUWO office first, but will receive the keys directly at the complex. And who better to tell the new student about the nearest supermarket or student bar than someone who lives there?

What else does a Student caretaker/RA do?
In collaboration with the Vrije Universiteit (VU) and Leiden University (UL), Student caretakers/RA's are also active in a number of DUWO buildings during the rest of the year.
You can contact a Student caretaker/RA for:

  • Questions about your building and the rules in and around the building;
  • Help with (noise) nuisance in the building;
  • Help with complaints; the Student caretaker/RA can refer you to the right agency;
  • Help with, for example, (mental) health problems or study problems; the Student caretaker/RA can refer you to the right agency;
  • Getting to know your fellow residents better; the Student caretakers/RAs sometimes organize a social gathering with your educational institution.

When there's no Student caretaker/RA in your building, but you do have a question? Please contact DUWO.
