Rent arrears

You need to pay the rent in advance every month before or no later than the first of that month. Could you not do that this month? You can solve this by paying your rent arrears immediately or by entering a payment arrangement.  

 

Procedure in case of rent arrears

    You will first receive a formal notice. You must pay your overdue rent within 14 days following the date of that formal notice.

    If you fail to pay within 14 days, you will receive a second formal notice. At that time, we will charge a collection fee in the amount of 15% of the overdue rent (with a minimum of €40).

    If you ignore the warning and reminder (or second warning) then you will receive a summons. Although this letter is sent by the debt collector, you still have to pay your debt to DUWO.

  • 4

    After another 14 days, we hand over your file to the debt collector . At worst, it will mean the end of your tenancy agreement.


    That sounds rather serious, and it is. The best solution to avoid all of this? Make sure not to end up in rent arrears: pay your rent on time, i.e. before the 1st of the month.

Payment scheme

Are you not able to pay the overdue rent right away? Under certain conditions you can enter into an arrangement with us: 

  • You have been renting from us for 6 months or longer.  
  • Your payment arrears are at least €50.
  • You have no current payment arrangement.  
  • You have not had a payment plan in the last 12 months.
  • You do not have current arrears with a bailiff.
