There are a few things to consider when you move out of your student room. For most student rooms (non-self-contained and self-contained), we do not have an inspection any more. For a few addresses in Delft, The Hague and Leiden, we still come along for a final inspection. Whether that is the case for your building can be found in the residents' information under ‘final inspection’. Your building is not on the list for an inspection, but you still want an inspection by DUWO? Then please request an inspection via the contact form. If you are living in a self-contained non-students’ residence, then an inspection will always take place.
Make arrangements with the new resident if have items to take over. E.g. floor coverings, stove or furniture. Fix the arrangements with the takeover form (Dutch only).
If you are moving out of your student room, the new tenant will contact you for the handover of the keys. You have no contact with the new tenant?
Are you renting a self-contained non-student residence? Then there will always be a final inspection by a DUWO employee to whom you can hand over the keys.
The rules for moving house can be found in the tenancy regulations.
In addition to the basic rent, you also pay DUWO service costs. These are advance payments. At the end of each year, we will determine the actual service costs incurred by you. Therefore, you may receive some money back or you may have to pay some money. You can find the final account in My DUWO under Service costs. Please go to My DUWO and make sure your email address and bank account number are correct. This does not apply to residents of guaranteed accommodation (Accommodate), since they pay a fixed amount for service costs.
Once you have moved, you must register in your new municipality. They will arrange for your removal from the register of the municipality in which you lived before. If you move within the municipality, you must report your new address to the municipality or the district office. If you do not, you can be fined by the municipality. And the new resident may face difficulties when registering with the municipality, and when applying for allowances.
