  • Description This student housing houses 25 students who are all members of the Quintus and Augustinus student associations. The students have private rooms and share the facilities, the living room (fusion) and the garden. The sizes of the rooms vary from 8 to 20 square metres. The 3-floor building dates from the seventeenth century. This municipal monument is located at one of the most beautiful historical places of Leiden: on this spot the Sea Beggars (Watergeuzen) entered Leiden on the morning of October 3, 1574. This brought an end to a months-long Spanish siege under which the Leiden population suffered a great deal. The Sea Beggars arrived here, bringing herring and white bread with hodgepodge stew to the starving population. This is still a meal favoured by many people of Leiden on 3 October. You will find many picturesque monuments, canals, museums and courtyards in this neighbourhood. Shops, cinemas, cafes and restaurants are within walking distance. Leiden Central Station is a 5-minute bike ride away.
