Research shows that rooms with shared facilities contribute to the well-being of students and housing associations, such as DUWO, want to keep these rooms and integrate them into new construction plans. The updated system now makes this more possible, allowing us to meet the needs of students even better.
The old WWSO, which dated from 1979, was outdated and made the construction, rental and sustainability of rooms with shared facilities financially unattractive. The new WWSO ensures more realistic rental prices for these rooms, making it easier to maintain them and build new ones. This also makes it easier to make non-independent units more sustainable.
In addition, a motion has been adopted stating that some obligations under the Good Landlordship Act will only take effect on January 1, 2025. This concerns the addition of the points count to the rental agreement, the prohibition on a maximum reasonable rental price above the WWS(O) and enforcement by municipalities. Landlords therefore have until that date to adapt to these new rules.
