Clean and sustainable energy
The Netherlands wants to be as natural gas-free as possible by 2050. Everyone must prepare for this. Delft is also busy transitioning to clean, sustainable energy. For example in all new houses. Natural gas is no longer used in this. But existing buildings will also have to be made more sustainable.
Ready for the future
DUWO, Stedelink, Vidomes and Woonbron want their tenants to be able to live comfortably in Voorhof, Buitenhof and on the TU Delft Campus for a long time to come. In a well and sustainably heated home. That is why a heating network will be installed in these neighborhoods. This allows the homes to be heated. It is an important step to also make existing homes natural gas-free. And therefore prepare for the future. The first homes will use the heating network in the autumn of 2025.
First connections
The partners will start by connecting a total of 6,000 rental homes to the heating network. This concerns residential buildings with only rental properties and with a collective gas heating boiler. Connecting to the heating network is very simple. The central gas heating boiler (block heating) will be replaced by a connection to the new heating network for the entire building. This takes place in the existing central boiler house.
