DUWO aims to own all of its property, but this is unrealistic with regards to new constructions. The uneconomic investments that are by definition linked to student accommodation cannot be placed by DUWO alone. The corporations that are willing and able to make such investments (sometimes partially) via so-called collective financing constructions therefore become the owner of the property and DUWO subsequently rents out and manages the accommodation.
The accommodation can also be offered on a temporary basis. Owners sometimes want to improve the level of accommodation offered, demolish the building or change its purpose. In the time preceding such action, DUWO can manage the building and rent out residences to students.
