I am a private room letter

Make a student’s day by providing them with a place to stay!
Do you, as a private individual, have a room to let? The DUWO Delft office also acts as an intermediary in the letting of private rooms available in Delft and the surrounding area. We will seek the right student for your room or house. We will do so free of charge.

Advantages at a glance
1  We will have tenants who meet your requirements contact you.
2  You will choose the tenant from all the candidates.
3  Income from rents is not taxed up to €4,333 (2011 price level).
4  Our services are free.
5  You can also let on a temporary basis: there are no obligations.

Registering a room
In order to welcome future first-year students, we are especially happy with temporary rooms in September.

You can offer a room or house by completing the form offering a private room in Delft, by visiting our office at Kanaalweg 4 in Delft, or by phoning us at +31 (0)15-219 22 22.

Our staff will ask you for a few details about the room you wish to let. And you can indicate what your requirements are. By means of this information, we can act as a mediator for the room and find a tenant that suits you. This is important, especially if you are letting a room in your own house.

Seeking candidates
We will place an ad for the room (without your name, address or telephone number) on this website and on the bulletin board in the hallway at the Delft office.

Selecting a tenant
DUWO selects a number of candidates for your room. We will try to take into account your preferences to the extent possible. You will choose your tenant from the candidates we recommend. We will only give out your name and telephone number to serious prospective tenants, but never your address. Once you have found a suitable tenant, or you decide not let your room, we will obviously no longer refer candidates to you.

Should there be issues between you and your tenant, we can act as mediator. We will do our utmost to resolve these issues.

You are not ‘tied’ to a tenant. If your tenant lives at the same address as you (you both live in the same house), you can terminate the tenancy during the first nine months with advance notice of three months. In this case, you can do a ‘trial run’ for one year before the legal rent protection takes effect.
